Second semester has begun and I’m starting to realize how close graduation and many other important dates are. Placement tests, registration for my classes, and my state board test for CNA. This is the most important semester of my whole high school career and I am working hard to not mess anything up.I start clinical hours at Lindsay Gardens in a week and even though I’m nervous, I’m excited to start seeing what this career is all about and getting an insight into the nursing field.
I’ve started to realize how much I’ll miss my mom when I leave. Next weekend is my 18th birthday and it scares me, I wish I could turn back the time and slow down instead of trying to grow up so fast. So far, I’ve enrolled in Goldenwest Community College in Huntington Beach, I’m waiting to get alerted of a registration date and also placement tests. Around April or May I’m going to start looking for an apartment around the area in Huntington, it’s going to be a hard task to find a reasonable rent, but it’ll be worth it.
Looking back at first semester I’m very proud of myself for keeping up with my school work and not letting myself fall behind even with all of my other responsibilities. I’ve managed a way to always put my own needs before anything else, then school work, then having a social life. My freshmen through junior years in high school I saw how I was always trying to put my social life before school work and always squeezing in my school work late at night. I figured out how to stop procrastinating and I started making notes either on my phone or on sticky notes to remember to do things, and I’d also put the due date so I’d finish a week in advance. I was proud to receive my report card for first semester and see that I didn’t fail any classes. Now that second semester has begun, I now have one new class that I’ve never had before which is Economics, it may be difficult but I’m sure I’ll figure it out and be able to finish it. The future freaks me out, but I’m working towards building a successful life for myself and a stable career. All of this work that I’m doing right now is stressful and can sometimes be very aggravating but it’s all going to pay off in the end.
